My connection is when Maeve's parents tell Maeve and her little brother that they are getting separated, Maeve is really mad, and doesn't know if she should tell her friends or not. My connection to that is (Text to Text), in another book, the main character's mom and dad also announce that they are getting separated, but then they take things a little differently, and she screams and gets really mad at them. Now that I have read both books, I really understand how they both must be feeling. Another connection (Text to Text) is when Avery tries to hide a dog in their house (Avery is a pet LOVER, but her mom is allergic, so she can't have any) but then all of a sudden, Avery's mom wants to go up to the attic (where Avery is hiding the dog) to find some old yearbooks of hers to show to her friends. My connection to that in another book, the girl tries to hide that she has a hamster, but then one day her parents find out because they run out of her room. Now I under stand how hard it must be for you to hide a pet.
The themes of this book are: Helping, separation, and friendship. Helping is a theme because while all of the things are happening, Maeve got nominated for a prize, for a project that she did, where she made blankets for homeless people, and her friends helped her a lot while she did this, like Katani helped sew them, Isabel designed them, and Avery and Charlotte just helped with everything. I learned that if you do it by yourself, it will be a lot harder that if you have your friends to help you. Separation is a theme, because Maeve's parents got separated, and it is really hard on the whole family, because her parents aren't living together anymore, and Maeve's dad's new apartment is really small. I learned that separating is really hard at first, but then in the long run, it is better for everyone, and then it becomes really normal after a while. Last but not least, is the theme friendship. Friendship is a big theme because when Maeve's friends find out that her parents are separating, her friends were really nice, and trying to help her feel better about it. If Maeve didn't have her friends, she would probably be really sad all the time.
My transformed thoughts is that when Maeve's parents said that they were getting separated, Maeve was really sad, and mad, so I thought that she would stay like that forever, but in the end, Maeve ends up being okay, and happy. So I think now that things get better when you get used to it. Another transformed thought is that when Avery says that she is going to take care of the dog, I thought that she would actually not do it, because then she might get in trouble, but then she did actually do it. Now I think that people who really love things, do things even if they will get in trouble, like sneaking things in their house.
SPOILER ALERT!!!! More about the book: Maeve's class is doing a project about their history of their families, and it is really hard for Maeve, because her parents separated, so it is hard for her to get her parents to tell Maeve about their past. Also, Avery sneaks a dog into her house, and she gets caught by her mom, and then after that, she wants to take care of Maeve's hamsters, and Maeve doesn't really trust Avery because she thinks that Avery will not tell her mom about the hamsters and then sneak them into her house again. Now that you have read my blog and learned a little more about the book, I hope that you read the book. I hope that you enjoyed reading my blog, and don't forget to comment!
