Blog #1

I just read the most amazing book called Dragon Slippers. It’s by Jessica Day George. This book is my favorite book already because it is thrilling and suspenseful. It has a very large vocabulary of juicy words and pulls you in as soon as you start reading.

*SPOILER ALERT*
This connection is a text to text connection with Cinderella because prince Luka is hosting a ball and Derda won’t let Creel go but when Amalie gives her a mean deal, an ugly dress for a pair of slippers that rule  the world, but Creel decides to refashion the dress so that she is the belle of the ball and she does. She comes out and prince Luka immediately falls in love with her. This brought me back to when I read Cinderella because both princes fall in love with a hard working girl that is beautiful and has someone who is terribly mean enslaving them, Derda won’t let Creel go to the ball and neither will Cinderella’s stepmother.

I think the themes of this book are: Dragons because Shardas, Amacarin, Niva, Feniul, and the Queen are all dragons, Romance because Luka and Creel Marta and Tobin are all in boyfriend girlfriend relationships with one another, Hard Work because Marta, Creel, Alle,  and Larkin are all forced to do Derda’s work and are expected to scrub the floors etc. without complaining, Jealousy because Amalia wants the dragon slippers and will go to endless lengths to get them , Royalty because Luka and Amalia and Miles and the king and queen are all royalty.

At first I thought that  Larkin was nice because she helped Creel but now I know that she is just one of Amalia’s terrible spies. At first I thought that the Duchess of Mordrel  would be just as bad as Amalia but it turns as I read on that she was actually one of the people who were fighting on the kings side of the war.

I think this book is spectacular and I recommend reading it ASAP.  I wonder if Creel and Luka will get married? I need to read the sequels soon.
