How To Steal A Dog
I recently finished this book, I have to say, its one of my favorites right now. Its called “How To Steal A Dog” by Barbara O'Connor. ” How to steal a dog” is really creative book and has lots of description, I like how the author chose a really interesting topic, and it is really hooks you up. I will explain it very briefly. *SPOILER ALERT*Its about a girl named Georgina and a boy named Toby, and there mom is really just called Mama. They live in a car because they afford to buy a house or live in apartment. No one Knows that she lives in a car. But one day when Georgina and Toby were walking to their car they saw a picture of a lost dog, and on the bottom it said $5,000. It gave them an idea. “We have to steal a dog.”said Georgina. *SPOILER ALERT OVER*As you can see if they steal a dog, and the owner puts a sign, and it said there would be an award of money. If Georgina and Toby give that dog that was lost they would get the money.
My connection is text to text, when Georgina and Toby give the dog they stole back , and they feel really bad and they want to go home but Georgina’s mind just keep on thinking that she should tell the owner. Eventually she told the owner and learned her lesson and didn’t get the reward for the lost dog. I can connect to that, when I was watching a movie and and it was about these teenagers and there were two best friends. Britney and Skyler. Skyler got jealous of Brittany because she got the best mark in the class for drawing and everyone was amazed and was complimenting her and saying she was the best at drawing. Skyler decided to tell Britney's boyfriend that Britney hated him. The next time Britney saw him, he totally ignored her. Britney realized that her boyfriend suddenly hates her. A week later, Skyler apologized to Britney and they became friends again and Britney's boyfriend was mad at Skyler that she lied to him. Later on, they all became friends again. This is a connection because Georgina apologizes and so does Skyler. I think that it was a good idea that Skyler told Britney that she lied. I felt that mad at Skyler that she did a really bad thing, and I also think that Georgina made a bad decision too! And they should feel ashamed of themselves.
I think that the themes of the book, “How to steal a dog” are mostly taking risks, lying, and planning out things. Taking risks because you need to take a lot of risks to steal a dog out of a backyard. I mean its 99.99% you would get caught by someone in the neighborhood. *SPOILER ALERT*Also, when a guy named Mookie comes in their house/shack and randomly lives in the backyard, it's a risk because he might do something to them or take the dog they stole away. (Mookie actually takes the dog Willy for a walk but doesn’t actually take him. And thats a risk because if the owner of that dog saw her dog, they would get in to trouble.) *SPOILER ALERT OVER* My other theme is lying because Georgina obviously lies to the owner of the dog they stole. Another time she lied is when she and Toby lied to Mookie and said that Willy the dog they stole was theirs. And last but not least, planning out because in the book, Georgina has a notebook and plans all her techniques to steal Willy and also rules about that.
My transformed thought is when Georgina comes back into her really house/shack, *SPOILER ALERT* and Mookie is in their backyard. I my thought was that “GET RID OF THAT GUY, HE IS GOING TO KILL YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” And my thought kept getting stronger after he started coming again and when Georgina and Toby come back home and Willy was gone, I knew that Mookie took Willy but he actually didn't. My transformed thought was that Mookie was just a distraction to Georgina and he didn’t take Willy. And later he actually left.*SPOILER ALERT OVER*
In conclusion, I definitely recommend to read this book. I think this is one of the best book I have ever read and if you do read it, I hope you think its a really good book as well.
