The Wishing Spell
This is a great book of adventure, fairytales, and a mystery. Your probably like FAIRYTALES! No way Im going to read this book, its probably going to be about fairies! But your absolutely wrong, this book is very creative. Its called, The Land of Stories The Wishing spell. This is the first book in the series. Its written by Chris Colfer, the same Chris Colfer in Glee. This book is such a page turner and tells an amazing story of a fairy tale but the author twists the story around and its a little different and is even better than the actual fairytale!
My connection is text to self. When Alex and conner don't know how to get back home when they are in the fairytale land, but the have to find all the wishing spell items to wish that they could go back home, Alex just wants to go home and she misses her mom and dad and want to leave this place. It reminded me when I was in California Disneyland, and me and my friend went on the California Screaming, I decided to do it and me and my friend went on it and ounce we were getting higher before we fall down, I was regreating everything and I wantede to be on safe land and not being on a roller coaster that was going fall soon!!!!!! Thats a connection because when Alex and Conner want to go back home instead of staying in the land of stories and I want to go back on ground before the roller coaster falls!!!! I felt so frustrated and scared the I wanted to get off the roller coaster and I bet Alex and Conner felt scared and worried if they could ever go back home!
I think that the themes for The Land of Stories are a scavenger hunt for their lives, surprises, and adventure. I think a scavenger hunt for their lives because Alex and Connor have to find all the items in the wishing spell in order to wish that they could go back home. And also, when they are look ing for the items, it can be very dangerous and they could die, such as being eaten by a troll. My next theme is surprises, I chose that because Alex and Connor are surprised a lot like when they are told that Snow White's stepmom actually isn't that bad and that in the story this person froze her heart so it wasn't Snow Whites Step mom's fault that she was mean, she just couldn't feel love. That was a HUGE surprise for Alex and Connor because they didn't know that. And for my last theme, adventure because the whole book has a lot of adventure and they have like things they have to go through, and its like an adventure to find the wishing spell items.
One of my transformed thoughts are that when I thought that Little Red Riding Hood would never go back for Goldilocks but she actually did and I thought that was really nice of her. My other transformed thought was when Alex and Connor try to steal the glass slipper of Cinderella, I thought they would never be able to but the guard gave it to them.
In conclusion I think This is a really funny and good book to read and it has lots of description and I recommend you to read the book! Thanks for reading my blog!
