About the book:
This book was given to me by our family friend David Crear. He was talking about the book with my mom and decided to get it for us. If he is reading this, thanks so much!! :)
The book is about two kids that pull an old-fashion runaway and decide to 'move' to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where they sleep in Marrie Antoinette's bed, bathe in the fountain in the fancy café and learn about art, culture and history 24-7.
A connection I made with the book was with the fact that Jamie and Claudia (the runaways) packed their cloths in their instrument cases and had to carry them around and my sister used to do saxophone and she had to carry around her case all the time. ( it was really heavy)
I think the themes of the book are friendship and trust because Jamie has to believe in and trust his sisters judgement, but along the way he likes to take charge once in a while by saying that they have to walk instead of taking a cab or the bus. He has won $24. 18 at gambling with his not so 'sharp' friend (he cheats) which is a lot back then for a kid in the 1900's so he doesn't want to spend his money.
My transformed thought was I thought the book would be about 2 kids that live in france that play music outside the Louvre for money and look at art every day. I had absolutely no idea what 'mixed-up files' ment but I was willing to find out!
Thanks for reading as always and I hope you get the chance to read more of my blogs! Love the feedback thanks so much! :) I hope you get a chance to read From The Mixed-Up files Of Mrs.Basil E. Frankweiler. See you next time.
