Olivia's Blog#5

This week I am reading the same book as last week called Half Brother by Kenneth Oppel. I really like this book because it is really heartwarming. It's heart warming because Ben really love's his new baby chimp-brother, Zan and he always watches over him to make sure Zan is ok.I also really love it because you don't really know what is going to happen next in the book like Ben and Jennifer are going out before the summer. After the summer (SPOILER ALERT) Ben find's out the Jennifer was just doing that so that her brothers best friend Hugh, would get jealous (SPOILER ALERT OVER).

My connection to this book in a text/self. In the book Ben got a really bad mark on his math test and he felt bad because he didn't get what he thought he would, he thought he would get better marks because he study really hard. I connect to this because on one of my socials test I didn't do as well as I thought I would do and I studied really hard for the test because I knew that it would be hard. But, I thought that I would do better than I did that time. Ben  got a bad mark on his test's twice in a row, luckily I didn't and on  the science test I did after the socials test I did really well, even better than I thought!    

I infer that the themes of this book are family, crushes and friendship. Family because Ben and his Mom and Dad welcomed in a new chimp brother and they really love him like they are intermediate family, Ben and the Mom really love Zan but the Dad doesn't really because he thinks that Zan is really a mess.He also thinks that Zan is bad and at the part I am reading now (SPOILER ALERT) the Dad want's to give away Zan  because he think's that the project wouldn't work and that it was a bad idea (SPOILER ALERT OVER). Crushes because Ben has a huge crush on Jennifer and the beginning to middle part of the book Ben and Jennifer where going out and Ben thought the she really liked her (SPOILER ALERT) but after summer break Ben find's out that Jennifer was just going out with him to get Hugh jealous (SPOILER ALERT OVER).  Friendship because over the time that Ben has been in Victoria he has made a couple of friends like David, Hugh, Jennifer, Evan and Jane. But, Ben doesn't really like Jennifer anymore because of what happened (read the spoiler alert to know). 

At the beginning of the book when Ben and Jennifer where going out and, I thought they would be together for the hole book and they end up going on a real proper date because it seemed that Jennifer really liked Ben. Now I think that Jennifer will end up with Hugh because they both really like each other and they have known each other for a long time so they know each others personality.

I think that  this book is really good and I think that you should read it if you haven't. I am really exited because I am almost finished the book and I want to see what happens in the end!!!
